Hey everyone :-)
This was a crazy week, a major part of that being because this weekend it hit 107 degrees! It felt like I was knocking doors in an oven, but each time someone answered I felt a great cool breeze pour out. This week has made me so thankful for a car so that I can enjoy a little air conditioning every once in a while, and also for an apartment with great air conditioning so I can come home to a cool place. Well I happen to like the weird bullet point thing I have been doing so I'm going to go ahead and tell you about my week that way again.
- We now have 4 people on date for baptism! Our bishop is so excited because that will make 6 baptisms since I started working in this area, and since this area opened 2 years ago it has only had 7 total. We are being so blessed in our work, and I think even more then that the ward is being blessed for their diligence in inviting people to church and making them feel welcome as soon as they do come. Yesterday I was talking to my companion and told him that I wouldn't mind spending the next year and a half in this ward because it has been so incredible for the past couple months. Seeing these families take steps to becoming an eternal unit through baptism and planning for the temple is bringing more joy to me personally then I could have ever imagined prior to being out here.
- The Heallys are doing incredible right now as well, and I am so excited about them as a family. They are going through so many trials right now, and I can tell Satan is working hard on them, but they are still striving to do what is right. Last week I was on an exchange with one of the Zone Leaders and I had us out knocking doors when I felt prompted to go to the Heallys. I had talked to them the day before and our schedule was pretty packed so I thought about ignoring the prompting, but then quickly decided against it and went directly to their home. Sister Heally invited us in right away and said that she had been praying we would decide to stop by because she needed to talk to us. She broke down pretty quickly as she explained that it feels like as soon as they start taking steps forward they are forced to fall back and lose progress. It turns out that they were doing some work for family on the side because they were having a hard month financially and then that morning the people they were doing the work for decided they didn't want to pay them and told them not to come back, which meant they would most likely lose their home in just a couple days. Brother Heally is an extremely hard working fireman, but the city just cut back their salary so they were having trouble re-adjusting to their new income. I read the story of Alma and his people after they escaped from King Noah and bore testimony that everything they are going through is going to help their family become stronger and closer. Her countenance began to change slowly and then by the end she was smiling non stop and going on and on about how happy she is that her husband and son are getting baptised (their daughter is taking a little longer). She said that the night we asked him to be baptised was the happiest night they have had in months. She said that the morning before we asked they were all at his moms house talking and it came up that he was meeting with the missionaries. I guess his mom told him right away that its fine to meet with us but he better never get baptised, which is part of the reason Sister Heally was so surprised when he said yes to us. Then just a couple days ago their son was talking to the grandma and she told him not to get baptised and he said "to bad, I'm already getting baptised so your just to late". This is a very long run on paragraph but I am just so excited and have so much to say about them! Even though they are going through some really major hardships they constantly tell us how happy they are and that they are excited to be able to go through the temple together.
Well I only have time for two bullet points today because we have to get going. Looking over this letter I guess it is pretty unorganized and random, I will try to work on fixing that next time I am just really pushed for time today. Keep the prayers coming! I know they are helping and the people in Ventana Ranch are being richly blessed from them, as well as myself. I am constantly amazed by how much happiness being a missionary brings to me, and love it so much.

Blessings from Heaven
Hola,
This has been a completely incredible week for me as well as the Ventana Ranch area! I was not able to write yesterday due to it being Memorial Day and everything being closed, and today my time on here is limited, so I am going to try using bullet points so I can get everything down here.
I don't know how many of you remember me talking about the Healy family, but there is great things happening in their family right now. They are a part member family, the wife being the only member and her husband and 3 kids are not baptized (2 of the kids are old enough). She has not been active since she moved out at 18, and both her and her husband have been smoking since they were legally old enough to do so. Early last week we started the Stop Smoking Program with them, which includes not drinking coffee, and it worked great. We met with them on Sunday because the program ended on Monday and we were trying to figure out some way to keep him from starting back up on coffee, since he said that was the hardest part of the program. We started the lesson by bearing testimony of the blessings that come from the restored gospel and focused a lot on eternal families. I was overwhelmed by the spirit and teared up as I related how happy I am knowing that my family is going to be together forever, and that I want them to have that same confidence, but it can only come through living the gospel standards and being sealed by priesthood power, which starts with baptism. Then I asked him if he would be willing to prepare to be baptized the week of the 19th of June, and he said YES!! It was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever been a part of, and from then on everyone's eyes were watering. He is already talking about how excited he is for the temple. Needless to say, he has agreed to stop coffee, permanently. (PS, he is wondering what good tasting coffee substitutes there is because he is already having withdraws just because of the taste, lol)
My ward here is starting to feel like a second family and I'm hoping and praying that I can stay here for several more transfers. Last week I had prayer and after wards one of the mothers came up to me and said that she was sitting out on one of the couches at the time I prayed and right away one of her kids looked over and excitedly said that Elder Inman was praying because he recognized my voice. Later that day another parents came up and said that a bunch of the kids were playing hang man and the word everyone had to guess was "INMAN". I love having such a great ward to work with, especially when I know I can bring any investigator here and they will be welcomed and loved the same way I have been.
When I was in my personal study I read a verse that talked about sitting with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and had an impression that has helped me strive to live a more worthy life. I realized that I don't know much about any of them, so I thought of others that mean to me what they meant to the people at that time. Names like Mormon, Joseph Smith, Gordon B. Hinkley, Thomas S. Monson, and others who dedicated their lives to serving god began coming to mind, and I started to wonder if I am worthy to sit with them in the Celestial Kingdom, and that if I'm not that must mean that I am not worthy to be part of the highest degree of that glory. Can I honestly say to myself that I am worthy of the same Kingdom as they are?! It hit me pretty hard when I thought of this and realized that I need to dedicate my life to becoming worthy of returning to Heavenly Father with great people like them.
Oh, and Grandma Williams sent me a great letter this week that had a page for Elder Sumpter. He loved it so much and said to say thank you!
It was great seeing all the pictures from your Memorial Weekend :-) Everyone make sure you tell Tawny how great she is going to do this weekend at her graduation speech thing! I have such an amazing family!!!

Nate's week
Hola,
The reason for the title is because Nate was baptised this week, and it was one of my favorite parts of my mission so far! Before I get to that though, and wanted to let you know I was freaking out about my girl Clover... Please take care of her, because I am very much expecting her to be waiting for me when I get back :-)
So, now back to Nate. I am not sure how much I have written about his family so I will go ahead and give a quick over view and talk a little about his progress along with his families. We found them because they looked like they might be a part member family according to our ward list, and this mission has a big focus on teaching part member families so that they can because eternal units together. It turns out that Nate's mom had recently decided to start attending church again so she was very welcoming and excited when we asked if we could start giving Nate the lessons. She told us she didn't think he would be ready for baptism any time soon, but it would still help him if he started going to church anyway.
Teaching them was always interesting because her kids are wild. Nate is the oldest, 10, then his siblings are 7, 5, and 3. We had to work really hard to keep their attention for even 5 minutes at a time, but somehow each time we came back and did a review they knew every answer to our questions. As time progressed we got more creative with our teaching methods with them, and in return they began attending church every Sunday as a family, holding FHE weekly, reading the scriptures, and praying daily. After a couple months we asked them to pray about a date for Nate to get baptised, and the next week we came they had the date and said their grandpa is buying a ticket to come down and do the baptism. His grandpa never got the ticket, but he and Nate's uncle actually left at 3am Friday morning so they could make it to the baptism on time :-) We found out that his grandpa had been working on getting Nate baptised since he turned 8, and may be one of the few people that was excited as me about the baptism.
It was finaly Friday night, and everything was working out perfect. We showed up early and got everything set up, Nate's grandpa was present and excited, and all of Nate's family was ready to see him enter the waters of baptism. The only sad part was that with 5 minutes to go that was all the people who were there. I have a great ward here, but Nate's family tends to be quiet and his mom had mentioned to us that she wasn't expecting anyone else to come. Then one of those wonderful daily miracles happened that I wasn't expecting. Just as were were ready to start ward members and their family began flooding in with smiles on their faces, but no one had a bigger smile then Nate's mom. As I was giving my talk on Baptism I looked out and counted more then 40 people stuffed into the little baptismal room, and I saw tears welling up in the moms eyes, the only time I have ever seen her cry. It was such a beautiful baptism, and I knew right then that even if I get transferred out this incredible family will be embraced and taken care of by my ward in Ventana Ranch.
Someone is waiting for the comp so I better wrap this up, even though there is so much more I want to say! Here is some more though:
- We have another baptism coming up on the 4th :-)
- The Chavez family is quickly becoming one the strongest families I know in the gospel. Bro. Chavez is begging to become a home teacher, they attend every baptism, and they volunteer to everything they can. Just last Sunday I made an announcement that a family is moving and we need some boxes for them. They didn't have any, but a couple days later they called and said they went around the neighborhood collecting boxes and have a bunch we can pick up. Isn't it amazing? Just 3 months ago they 'knew' the church was false, now they love it and let it take place in every part of their lives.
- We are having a pancake breakfast for Memorial day
- Today we are going over the stop smoking program with a dad and mom that we are teaching
- My companion is amazing!! I get so blessed with the elders I get to work with
- I'm so proud of my siblings as I hear about all they are doing right now, and half way wish I could just take off and go on the camp out this weekend :-)

Week 13
Hola again,
I loved seeing all those pictures. It feels so good to see everyone and to know that you all are doing so well. I can't print them here though, so be sure to send me a couple some time if you can :-) Enjoy camping! I loved those trips so much and still treasure those memories so much. Just make sure you take care of Clover, because Im expecting her to be jumping up and down when I get back!
So, it has been a great couple weeks. I had a change of heart a couple days ago that had helped me so much as a missionary. With Elder Davis going home, and talking about it quite a bit, I was starting to get a little trunky. I was missing family and friends and even though I still loved it out here I was feeling pretty home sick. Then just a couple days before he actually went home it hit me that I dont want to go home any time soon. I realized that if I went home now I would have failed as a missionary and would not enjoy being home because of that. It was simple and I should have thought of it earlier, but as soon as I did all remnants of trunkiness left and was replaced with excitement because I still get two years out here in New Mexico. I am not sure it anyone can even relate to that, but it had a huge impact on me and is helping me enjoy every moment of my mission.
This was especially good timing because my new companion, Elder Sumpter, is going home at the end of this transfer as well. There is a joke in my district that President Anderson is trying to make me trunky :-) He is a great missionary though and I am really excited for this transfer. Our first day together I tried to warn him about my snoring and that he may want to wear earplugs but he assured me he was fine since his last comp had the reputation for being the worst snorer in the mission. Well by the end of the next day he was about to fall over because he was so low on energy due to lack of sleep. It turns out that I am officially the worst snorer in the mission ( Are you sure you want to wait Brenna, lol). I gave him the earplugs that mom and dad sent me while in the MTC, and he has been sleeping much better the past couple nights.
Well I don't have to much time so I guess I have to wrap this up, so Ill bullet point a couple main things I wanted to say:
- This sounds weird, but if anyone wants to write my companion Im sure he would love it... I know Tawny and Mat are a thing now, but since he is going on a mission soon she can write two missionaries, lol :-) I don't think he gets much mail, meaning like maybe a letter every other month, which is weird because he is known as the most ripped missionary in the mission. He said he wasn't worried about girls to much before the mission, but kinda wishes he had been just so that he would get letters out here. I only check mail once a week now because I don't want to rub it in the people write me...
- We have a baptism this Friday which I am so excited about! His name is Nate Allen-Arve, and I have talked about him before. He is an incredible kid and this is going to be so amazing. His grandpa is flying down to do the baptism :-) It feels so great to find someone, work with them, and see them make the decision for baptism. And we have another baptism coming up on the 4th of next month. The work has picked up so much in this area and I love it. I have such a great ward, and I just found out that a group of them are praying that I will have another transfer here, lol.
- We were tracting this week and found an amazing family and the husband only does sign language, so I brushed up on the alphabet and am going to try to communicate with him a little. He is such a nice guy, and his wife translates for us, but it would be great to talk strait to him. Thanks mom!
- I am now an expert on how to stop smoking. Turns out missionaries have an incredible program that helps close to 90% of people lose the urge to smoke in 7 days, and my comp and I spent hours studying it because we have 3 people who need it. We are starting the program with them this week so I will let you know how it goes!
- I got an awesome package from the 'Williams Clan". I loved it, so thank you so much!

Week 11
We are sharing the computers today so I don't have much time to write. But I do want to tell you all about the Chavez family again because they continue to amaze me. We had the baptism this week on Saturday and it was such an uplifting experience. It was not announced in church the week before because it was such a quick baptism, but we still had over 40 people show up and support Marley Chavez in her decision. Her siblings did the talks and each of them did an amazing job, which really wasn't expected since they knew so little about the gospel just a few short weeks ago. Then on Sunday they got up and bore their testimonies about the strength the gospel gives and the joy that has entered into their home as a result. This morning we got a call from sister Chavez that started out a little scary but ended as another testimony builder. She said that they have been praying lately about whether attending church and reading the scriptures are what they should really be doing right now. She said that this morning her youngest son, just 4, came to her and said that he had a dream last night that Christ took him to church and read the Book of Mormon with him and that he knew they were doing the right thing, and that she has not smoked since we asked her to stop and this is the first time since she was 18. What greater miracle could I expect then seeing a whole family come to Christ, and us being able to be a part of it.
Well I'm sorry its so short, but I have to get off now. Real fast a couple other things that happened this week:
Nate Allen-Arve wants to get baptised the 21st of this month, which I will tell you more about later because its amazing.
We were able to attend the temple yesterday and the Temple President said something great, that "Salvation is a personal matter, but exaltation is a family matter!".
My companion is starting to walk again.

Another Witty Title (AKA week 10)
Hey everyone,
I hope you like my creative titles :-) This morning before personal study I was finally able to finish my letter home, so after I print some pictures off at Walmart I will go ahead and send it off for you guys. I'm sorry I am not able to write more often, but I hope you all know that I am still thinking about you very much!
I had a strange experience yesterday when we got the mail. Both my companion and I tend to get so caught up in the work that we go days, or even a week at a time, without actually checking the mail but it is always fun when we do. I got a letter from Elder Radford, Tawny, Harrison, Aurora, Mat, Michelle, and Brenna lately and all of them culminated to make me realize just how much the rest of the world is still moving along while I am on my mission. Brenna's letter was shorter then usual because she is moving into her own appt and just finished the semester, Elder Radford talked about how much the YSA is changing with new people and others leaving, Harrison is old enough to date and is already a ladies man, Tawny is graduating and I got an invite to her open house, Aurora is rocking it in school, Mat is almost ready to send his papers into Utah and is doing amazing in YSA, Michelle is already looking at grad schools, other friends are preparing to send their mission papers in, and another friend is giving up and running away to Mexico. It felt weird realizing that when I get back things are going to be different in so many ways, and some friends and family will not even live there anymore. I feel good with most of the changes though and am so glad that you all are doing so well!
Random side note- Some members that had us over for dinner said they are related to the Radfords so I spent a good amount of time bragging about what good missionaries they are!
Now I want to tell you guys about an incredible experience I had this week! Tawny quoted President Uchtdorf saying to "expect a miracle every day" which is something that I have been saying to everyone so I am glad he backs me up. I don't have near enough time to tell you all the miracles I get to see and be part of, but one in particular stands out to me this week. Last week I talked a little about the Chavez family and how they have started coming to church, so now I want to expand on that story and tell you what else has happened with this wonderful family.
Sister Chavez grew up in the church but has not attended since she moved out, and brother Chavez was baptized 5-6 years ago but has not attended since then. Most of their kids had already been baptized during their brief days of activity, but since then they have been attending a Catholic church instead. When we first knocked on their door they were very nice but during our first lesson with them, 1 1/2 months ago, they let us know that our church isn't true and that it is evil to follow a man, the prophet. Through the weeks of teaching them, many times several times a week, they rapidly had a change of heart and through prayer and study each of them realized that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints holds the Restored Gospel and they were excited to come back to church. This week their oldest son who is 15 received the priesthood and was ordained to the office of a Teacher. The greatest part is that his dad, who just weeks ago was basically anti, was the one who ordained him and gave him the priesthood through the laying on of hands with us in the circle. He is an extremely humble man and said he did not feel worthy to be part of the ordination, but after much prayer thankfully accepted the offer. As he spoke in the blessing I felt the spirit enter and the priesthood power filled the room, and despite my best efforts not to, I had tears streaming down my cheeks. By the end of the blessing I was not the only one with tear stained cheeks and I knew that this family was quickly becoming an eternal unit in our Father in Heavens Kingdom. This Saturday we are holding the baptism of their younger daughter, the only one that is old enough to be baptised who has not yet.
This is such an incredible work and a wonder and I feel so blessed to be a part of it. There is no question that it is through this gospel of Jesus Christ that our Heavenly Father's children receive joy in this life and the life to come. If there is anyone within the sound of my voice or within this letters reach who is living below their potential blessings please pray and ask for help to receive those blessings. Heavenly Father has so many blessings that He wants to give us, and that are available to our families, and many times it is such small changes that allow us to receive those. Why would we decide to live such that our families are not as happy as they could be and lose the power and comfort that comes from obedience to Him commandments? We choose how happy we will be, so I pray that each of you will choose to feel the indescribable happiness and joy that comes from taking true advantage of the atonement and striving to be more like our Savior.

PS. My companion got hurt because of me... It was 8:30 so we were not allowed to start another lesson, but at the same time it feels weird to get back to our apartment that early, so we decided to shoot some baskets for a couple minutes. Playing in the dark and in church shoes are both bad ideas though, and my companion still cant walk well because his ankle is so bad :-(
I hope you like my creative titles :-) This morning before personal study I was finally able to finish my letter home, so after I print some pictures off at Walmart I will go ahead and send it off for you guys. I'm sorry I am not able to write more often, but I hope you all know that I am still thinking about you very much!
I had a strange experience yesterday when we got the mail. Both my companion and I tend to get so caught up in the work that we go days, or even a week at a time, without actually checking the mail but it is always fun when we do. I got a letter from Elder Radford, Tawny, Harrison, Aurora, Mat, Michelle, and Brenna lately and all of them culminated to make me realize just how much the rest of the world is still moving along while I am on my mission. Brenna's letter was shorter then usual because she is moving into her own appt and just finished the semester, Elder Radford talked about how much the YSA is changing with new people and others leaving, Harrison is old enough to date and is already a ladies man, Tawny is graduating and I got an invite to her open house, Aurora is rocking it in school, Mat is almost ready to send his papers into Utah and is doing amazing in YSA, Michelle is already looking at grad schools, other friends are preparing to send their mission papers in, and another friend is giving up and running away to Mexico. It felt weird realizing that when I get back things are going to be different in so many ways, and some friends and family will not even live there anymore. I feel good with most of the changes though and am so glad that you all are doing so well!
Random side note- Some members that had us over for dinner said they are related to the Radfords so I spent a good amount of time bragging about what good missionaries they are!

Week 9
Hey everyone,
So this is probably going to be my shortest letter so far :/ We are going to an Isotopes game today, which is the minor league team here, and we have to leave very shortly. Plus, there were a lot of emails waiting for me, which was great, but I just don't have much time to reply to them today. I am currently writing a letter to my family though so you should be getting that soon, with some of my gospel insights from this past week of study. My companion hurt his ankle pretty bad so lately a lot of time has been spent at home with him icing and resting it like the doctor told him to. I'm not a big fan of sitting inside while people are waiting to hear the gospel, but I have gotten about 20 hours of scripture study cumulative this past week, and am even more amazed with the perfection found in the Book of Mormon.
Before I go I guess I better say at least one good experience I had outside with our investigators, because it was amazing. On Sunday we were sitting down waiting for church to start after we did our round of hand shaking. I was feeling a little depressed because we were not able to get as much work done this week, and I didn't see any of our investigators or less actives arriving. I was starting to get the feeling that I wasn't doing much good here, which I know isn't true but at that time it was sinking in. Then Nate's family walked in, the one I said was getting so happy and doing so well in our appointments, and we ended up challenging him to be baptized and he is now praying about a date. Then right after that Jerry Gajiton walked in with his family. He is someone who we started teaching after I pulled the 'Im new and need practice teaching' move, but he has been taught before a couple times over the past 20 years and has never so much as read any of the BoM. His wife later came to us crying saying that he is reading and prayed for the first time ever, and then he came to church. Wow! Then right after they walked in the Chavez family came in smiling and excited. They are a family that has been less active for many years and no one has ever been able to get into their house even. We have been teaching them for the last month and they are so excited about the gospel. They bore their testimony in class about how we came into their lives right when they needed us, that because of the light they see in missionaries they are coming back, and that they want their youngest daughter to get baptized since everyone else in the family already is. They invite us over twice a week now to teach them, and are getting involved in everything they can with the church. And THEN, at the end of sacrament I looked to the back of the gym, since we fill the chapel and the gym, and saw Sonia with one of her daughters sitting there with smiles on their faces. We went back right away and talked to them and they said they really enjoyed it. They stayed for all three hours and afterwards said they will probably be coming back next week and look forward to us coming on Thursday to teach them.
It was such an amazing Sunday! It's funny how I went from feeling like a failure out here to wanting to yell with joy 1 hour later, even though we were not able to get out and work that much this week. Just goes to show that when we do all we CAN God will bless us and those we are serving. I love you all, and pray that you are being blessed as well!
Oh, and yes mom I remember the dirty cereal bowl analogy :-) You used it at Harrison's baptism I'm pretty sure. Its so weird to think that he is already a priest, passing me up in scouts, and dating!!!! And then that in a couple days Tawny will be turning 18! There are times when I wish so badly that I could be there for all of it, but I know that you all will be blessed much more with me out here serving. I really do love you guys, and pray so many times every day that you will be safe and happy :-)
